Composure helps you practice conversations with AI. What you say or type is sent to third-party AI services, named below, which generate your practice partner's replies and your feedback. When you speak, the recording of your voice is what we send, so it can be turned into text. We ask your permission in the app before any of this happens, and you can withdraw that permission at any time in Settings → Privacy. We do not sell your data, we do not use your voice to identify you, and recordings are kept only long enough to become text. We keep text, not audio.
This policy is written by Berkay Baltas, who operates Composure and is responsible for the data described here. You can reach us at composure.help@gmail.com.
We collect this directly from you as you use the app. There is no third-party data source, no advertising software, and no behavioral tracking. We do not collect your contacts, location, photos, or browsing activity.
We keep personal data only as long as it serves the purpose it was collected for, on this schedule:
Deleting your account triggers deletion of everything above except the records described in the last three lines.
Composure cannot work without sending your practice to AI services run by other companies. We ask for your permission in the app before the first time this happens, and nothing is sent until you agree.
What is sent: the recording of your voice when you speak, the words you type, the message you paste into Message Check, and which scenario you chose. Your name, contacts, location, and photos are never sent.
Who receives it:
What it is used for: generating your partner's replies, your session debrief and score, Quick Spin judgments, and Message Check feedback.
What each provider commits to differs, and we would rather tell you exactly than round it off:
Neither is permitted to sell your content, and we never use it for advertising. You can withdraw your permission at any time in Settings → Privacy, which stops all further AI processing of your content.
Separately from this processing, and only if you leave the option on, we may use de-identified copies of your practice to improve Composure. That is described under "How we improve the app" and is a distinct choice you control.
When you speak during a session, your audio is sent securely to our speech-recognition provider (Deepgram), converted to text, and discarded.
We want to be precise about what we do and do not do with your voice, because the difference matters legally as well as practically:
If any of that ever changes, we will say so in this policy and ask your permission again before the change takes effect.
Besides the AI services above, we use: Supabase (database and backend, in the United States), Apple (Sign in with Apple, App Store distribution, and payments), RevenueCat (subscription status, keyed to your account identifier), and Resend (operational email to us, not to you). These providers act on our behalf under their own privacy commitments and never receive your data for their own advertising.
We may use conversations and feedback in de-identified form, with names and personal details removed, to improve Composure's scenarios and feedback quality. This is separate from the processing needed to run a session, and it is yours to control: the toggle lives in Settings → Privacy, opting out never limits your experience, and your choice is stored with your account and honored automatically.
If you are in the European Economic Area or the United Kingdom, we treat this as requiring your consent, and we do not use your practice this way unless you have turned it on.
We do not sell your data and we do not share your conversations with advertisers or data brokers.
Session data is stored with Supabase in the United States, protected by row-level security so it is reachable only by your account. Preferences and progress are also cached on your device.
Composure is available in many countries, and our providers are based in the United States. If you use Composure from outside the United States, your data is transferred to and processed in the United States, which may have different privacy protections than your home country. Where the law requires a transfer safeguard, we rely on the European Commission's Standard Contractual Clauses (and the UK Addendum where applicable) in our agreements with the providers named above. You can ask us for details at composure.help@gmail.com.
Data is encrypted in transit. Session data sits behind row-level security so one account cannot read another's. Access to production systems is limited to Berkay Baltas. No system is perfectly secure and we do not claim otherwise; if a breach affects your personal data, we will notify you and the relevant regulators as the law requires.
Depending on your state (including California, Virginia, Colorado, Connecticut, Texas, and others with comprehensive privacy laws), you may have the right to know what personal information we collect and why, to access a copy of it, to correct it, to delete it, to opt out of sale, sharing, or targeted advertising, and to not be treated differently for exercising any of these rights.
We do not sell personal information, we do not share it for cross-context behavioral advertising, and we do not use it for targeted advertising or for profiling that produces legal or similarly significant effects. There is therefore nothing to opt out of on those fronts.
Some of what you tell Composure during practice could be considered sensitive personal information, and your voice recording is treated as sensitive while it exists. We use it only to deliver the service you asked for, which is a purpose the law permits without a separate "limit the use" right, and we never use it to infer characteristics about you.
To exercise any right, write to composure.help@gmail.com from the email tied to your account, or use Account → Delete account for deletion. We respond within 45 days and will tell you if we need longer. You may use an authorized agent; we will ask for proof of their authority. If we refuse a request you may appeal by replying to our decision, and we will respond to the appeal within 60 days.
If you are in the EEA, the UK, or Switzerland, Berkay Baltas is the controller of your personal data and you have the right to access, correct, delete, restrict, object to, and port your data, and to withdraw consent at any time without affecting processing already carried out.
Our legal bases are: performance of our contract with you (running the sessions you ask for, and your subscription); your consent (sending your practice to third-party AI services, and the optional use of de-identified practice to improve the app); and our legitimate interests (keeping the service secure, preventing abuse, and enforcing usage limits).
We do not make decisions about you that produce legal or similarly significant effects using automated processing alone. Your scores and feedback are generated automatically, but they affect only the practice you see and nothing outside the app.
To exercise a right, write to composure.help@gmail.com. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with your local supervisory authority, or with the UK Information Commissioner's Office if you are in the UK.
Composure is for users 13 and older. We do not knowingly collect data from anyone under 13, and if we learn that we have, we delete it. If you are between 13 and 18, please read this policy together with a parent or guardian before using Composure.
We do not sell or share the personal information of anyone under 16 for any purpose.
If this policy changes materially, we will notify you in the app before the change takes effect, and where the change affects what we send to AI services, we will ask for your permission again.
